5 Hautpflege Mythen

5 skin care myths

These five skincare myths are unfortunately common and we're here to bust them. From slow aging, acne and parabens, we're expanding your skincare horizons.

Myth #1: Skin care is age dependent

Age is not a skin type, because even in older years there are different skin types. Also, skin concerns and skin diseases are not necessarily tied to your age. Pimples or blackheads can appear regardless of age. Also, a teenager can struggle with fine lines due to dryness and dehydration. Skin care should also prevent skin aging, so people under the age of 20 can use anti-aging ingredients and should use sunscreen to prevent skin aging and skin cancer.

Myth #2: Avoid parabens at all costs

Parabens, especially in the small amounts found in personal care products, are not a problem according to published research and global cosmetics regulatory organizations. It's as simple as that. Parabens are among the most effective and safest preservatives out there.

Myth #3: Age spots are part of getting older

The term "age spots" is misleading because the uneven skin tone and brown spots are the result of years of environmental exposure and sun exposure. Products containing niacinamide , vitamin C,AHA/BHA , or azelaic acid can lighten dark spots and give a more even complexion. You should also prevent (further) pigment spots by wearing sunscreen with at least 30 SPF every day. We also recommend avoiding the midday sun and avoiding sunbathing altogether.

Myth #4: Pores open and close

Pores are small openings in the skin through which sebum and sweat flow. They can neither open nor close. Pore size is partly genetic and is influenced by solar radiation and skin aging. Accumulation of dirt, oil and sebum in pores can make them appear larger. We therefore recommend the regular use of BHA as it penetrates deep into the pores and frees them from dirt, sebum and dead skin cells. This makes the pores appear smaller and prevents impurities and skin texture. And don't forget: pores have an important function and even larger pores are beautiful.

Myth #5: Acne stops once you get out of puberty

Acne, pimples and blackheads are independent of age, which is why acne does not end in many people even after puberty. In fact, adult acne is very common and nothing to be ashamed of. Pimples are not the end of the world, because you are beautiful even with acne and they can be managed very well with a well thought-out skin care routine. Regardless of age, we recommend regular use of BHA, retinol and niacinamide for breakouts. In addition, you should definitely contact a dermatologist.
